01

Start with both credit reports

Review Equifax and TransUnion records for accounts you do not recognize, incorrect balances and payment-history errors. Follow the credit bureau’s dispute process and retain supporting evidence. Correcting an error is different from removing an accurate negative record.

02

Use habits you can sustain

Pay on time and keep borrowing within a manageable portion of available credit. FCAC suggests trying to use less than 30% of available credit, but that is not a mortgage approval threshold. Avoid borrowing simply to manufacture a score, and do not close older accounts without considering your circumstances.

03

Ask the lender about the complete file

Mortgage pricing and eligibility depend on more than the score shown in a consumer app. Income, debts, down payment, property and lender or insurer policy matter. A recent missed payment or insolvency needs a factual discussion; there is no reliable universal timeline for reaching a target score.

A question worth asking

Can this site promise a fast score increase?

No. Scoring models, reporting dates and your full credit history affect outcomes.
