01

Find out which evidence is missing

Review available US reports for accurate identifying information and accounts. Tell the lender if the file is thin or contains a mistaken match. Ask whether the selected program permits nontraditional credit evidence and which records are acceptable.

02

Keep a verifiable payment history

Retain evidence of rent and other regular obligations if requested. A new credit product should fit your budget and have clear fees; multiple applications can complicate the record. Do not fabricate trade lines or pay for claims of a guaranteed mortgage score.

03

Connect credit to the rest of the application

Income continuity, residency documents, assets and reserves can require additional work when moving countries. Ask the lender for one complete list of conditions so the application does not depend on a score alone. Review any adverse-action information if an application is declined.
